Be Gentle On Your Face

The skin on your face, and especially the skin around the eye area is extremely delicate. Whenever you wash your face or remove your makeup, make sure that you are being as gentle as possible. Don’t rub or scrub your face with force because you can create irritation, broken blood vessels, and inflammation.

Don’t Wash Too Much

Washing your face to keep it clean and fresh is something you should be doing several times a day…right? On the contrary, washing your face too much is actually bad for your skin. Too much washing can strip your skin of its natural oils, causing dryness and irritation. This doesn’t mean you should never wash your face, just try to stick with once or twice a day at most. Which leads us to our next point…

Don’t Sleep In Your Makeup

If you wear makeup, sometimes it’s a hassle to go through all of the effort of carefully removing it each night. Especially when you’ve had a particularly long night, you’re tired, and it’s late, it can be all too easy to just fall asleep, promising yourself that you’ll just take it off in the morning. But, making a habit of not removing your makeup before bed can really take a toll on your skin.

Wearing makeup for an extended period of time can lead to a number of problems including clogged pores, irritation, dryness, and breakouts. All of these issues contribute to problem skin and premature aging that everyone is trying so desperately to avoid.

Drink Plenty of Water

This is something that we’ve all heard, but it’s amazing to learn just how many people still don’t drink enough water. Sure, you carry around that fancy little water bottle, but how many times do you actually refill it during the day? Being dehydrated can cause your skin to look dull and dry, plus it can contribute to the formation of wrinkles. So, how much water is enough? That answer may vary for each person.

You can start with the recommended eight 8-ounce glasses each day, but there are many factors to consider. Do you live in a dry climate? Did you lose a lot of sweat during a particularly good workout? Do you drink a lot of unsweetened tea or eat a lot of high water-containing vegetables? When it comes down to it, it’s hard to get too much water, so just make an effort to drink more water than you currently do and see how your skin responds. Chances are, you’ll love the results.
